3 Street Fighter II Characters Now Missing from the 2026 Street Fighter Movie, Who Are They?
--
ASTON OTN - Street Fighter (2026) features many iconic characters from Street Fighter II, the legendary fighting game that helped put the franchise on the map. Even Sagat—one of Ryu’s classic rivals—makes an appearance, albeit only in an animated sequence!
Given this, the absence of certain characters from the Street Fighter II roster is quite notable—especially since some of them actually appeared in the 1994 live-action Street Fighter adaptation.
1. Dee Jay
Dee Jay is an interesting case because he did appear in the 1994 Street Fighter film, though his portrayal was quite far removed from his game counterpart.
In the games, Dee Jay is a cheerful, multi-talented musician from Jamaica. He is a fighter who also happens to be an international recording star, with his love for music and dance serving as a core part of his identity.
However, the 1994 film reimagined him as a computer hacker, a tech expert, and a former Microsoft engineer. Yes, a former Microsoft engineer—that is explicitly stated in the film.
To make matters worse, this version of Dee Jay doesn't really showcase any fighting prowess like his game counterpart; his identity as a musician and kickboxer is all but gone. Meanwhile, Dee Jay is completely absent from Street Fighter (2026).
This is a missed opportunity, as the character could have brought a unique flair to the film, both through his upbeat personality and his fighting style, which blends rapid-fire kicks with rhythmic movement.
2. T. Hawk
T. Hawk is also an interesting case, as he too appeared in the 1994 Street Fighter film. Unfortunately, much like Dee Jay, his portrayal back then strayed significantly from the source material.
T. Hawk—known in the games as a towering, large-framed Native American fighter—was instead depicted as a soldier serving under Guile’s command.
Furthermore, his appearance failed to capture the imposing, giant-like stature that defines T. Hawk in the games. Consequently, viewers unfamiliar with his name might not even realize that the character is, in fact, T. Hawk.
In the film Street Fighter (2026), T. Hawk is entirely absent. Yet, his inclusion could have offered an interesting variety among the roster of fighters featured.
3. Fei Long
The case of Fei Long is even more intriguing. Unlike Dee Jay and T. Hawk, Fei Long has not appeared in any Street Fighter film since the 1994 adaptation. This is notable, given that the character has been well-known to fans since his debut in Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers in 1993.
Fei Long is a Hong Kong action film star who is also a gifted fighter. His fighting style and appearance are clearly inspired by Bruce Lee—one of the greatest icons in the history of martial arts cinema.
Because of this, it has been speculated that Fei Long’s resemblance to Bruce Lee may have been a factor in why the character has not been adapted for live-action films. However, this remains a theory, and it has not been confirmed as the official reason for his absence.
Interestingly, Fei Long also does not appear in Street Fighter (2026), even though the film is set in 1993—the very year he made his debut in Super Street Fighter II.
