A Student Shared an Experience About Negative Perceptions of his Personality, All to BTS’s J-Hope
--
ASTON OTONITY – A high school student who once appeared in a music video by BTS’s J-Hope recently opened up about his feelings regarding the stigma of being labeled an “attention-seeker.”
In an episode of the KBS Joy program *Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller* that aired on October 5, the student expressed concern about people’s perception that he is always seeking attention, even though he actively pursues hobbies such as dancing and social media.
The student currently serves as the student council president at a newly established school. After winning the election, several other candidates questioned the validity of the results, calling it a popularity contest and casting doubt on the fairness of the vote.
Given the situation, the student said, *“They even filed a complaint with the teachers, so I was almost forced to resign.”* However, the issue was eventually resolved after she explained that she had worked hard and competed fairly.
This student admitted that he enjoyed the attention and had taken on leadership roles since elementary school. He also revealed that he had received more than 10 love confessions from classmates.
However, his outgoing nature sometimes led others to view him as an “attention-seeker.” For example, he explained that he enjoyed showing off his advanced skating skills while his friends were still learning, because he liked hearing praise for his talent.
The student’s father had previously advised him that such behavior could make others feel uncomfortable, even if he personally enjoyed it. Seo Jang Hoon, one of the hosts, agreed with this advice and offered a more balanced perspective.

He stated, *“Very few people don’t like getting attention,”* but added that someone who is truly talented doesn’t need to show off their abilities excessively.
He continued, *“What’s really cool is being able to stay calm,”* encouraging the student to let his abilities shine naturally without constantly trying to prove himself.
This episode focused on helping the student understand how his self-confidence and outgoing personality can sometimes be perceived differently by those around him.
J-Hope has remained relevant and become one of the world’s most influential idols thanks to his extraordinary dancing talent, positive personality, and hard work in building his career from the ground up. As a member of the global group BTS, he is not only popular but also recognized as one of the main pillars of the group’s success.
His journey wasn’t easy; his father initially opposed his desire to become a dancer. Thanks to his mother’s full support and his boundless dedication, he continued to train extremely hard until he reached the pinnacle of his career.
