ASTON OTONITY – Suyeon, a member of the girl group i-dle, holds the No. 1 trophy from a music show in her hands. The title track “I’m Quitting My Job (Narr. Ki An 84)” from Suyeon’s first full-length album, *A Wonderful Life*, secured her first No. 1 ranking during the promotional period on Mnet’s *M Countdown*, which aired on the 1st.

Through her agency, Cube Entertainment, Suyeon said, “I’m so grateful to Neverland (her fanbase) for making me No. 1. I’ll work even harder on my music and always be a singer who makes Neverland proud,” adding, “This promotional period has felt so romantic. Thank you so much for your sincere love.”

Suyeon’s self-penned song, “I’m Quitting My Job (Narr. Ki An 84),” was immediately embraced as a warm and empathetic track upon its release, reaching No. 1 on the real-time and daily charts of major domestic music platforms such as Melon, Genie, and Bugs. Subsequently, the song soared to No. 1 on YouTube Music’s weekly popular chart, FLO’s 24-hour popular chart, Today’s TOP 100 Vibe chart, and iChart’s real-time and weekly charts, achieving a Perfect All Kill (PAK).

Additionally, on the 39th week of the Circle Chart, the song claimed its fourth No. 1 title by topping four categories: the digital chart, the streaming chart, the ringtone chart, and the V-coloring chart.

All eyes are on whether “I’m Quitting My Job (Narr. Ki An 84),” which has been dominating the music charts, will begin its sweep of music show trophies starting with “M Countdown.”

Suyeon, who set an extraordinary record by achieving her fifth cumulative “Perfect All Kill” with the song “I’m Quitting My Job (Narr. Ki An 84),” visited university stages across the country—including Jeonju National University and The Korea Economic Daily (Hankyung) National University—to enthusiastically interact with the audience. On the 6th, she is scheduled to perform at Chonnam National University to continue her success.

“I'm Quitting My Job” (퇴사할게여) by Jeon Soyeon conveys the message of having the courage to let go of work-related stress in order to pursue true happiness and enjoy one’s youth. This song serves as an “uplifting anthem” for anyone who feels trapped in the exhausting routine of the working world.

The lyrics depict the mental exhaustion caused by long working hours and mounting stress. Handing in a resignation letter in the song’s lyrics is not portrayed as defeat or resignation, but rather as a bold step to save oneself.

In various official interviews regarding the album’s release, Soyeon emphasized that the core message of the title track “I’m Quitting My Job” isn’t a literal call for everyone to quit their jobs.

This line serves as a reality check that life is short and aging is inevitable. Through these lyrics, Soyeon challenges herself and her listeners: “When I’m old and look back on this album—and the life choices I’ve made—will I be able to proudly say that I’ve lived a happy and romantic life?”

As her group’s lead producer, Soyeon often has to come up with the perfect overarching concept. But on the album *What a Wonderful Life*, she refuses to be defined by a single image or other people’s expectations.

Through eight songs she wrote herself—ranging from band-inspired tracks, rock, and hyperpop to playful songs like “Hate Veggie Song”—Soyeon celebrates every facet of her personality. She can be a very confident woman, silly, confrontational toward critics, and emotionally fragile all at the same time. This album is a space for her to express her true self fully without fear of appearing imperfect.
