Minzy of 2NE1 Has Released the Official Video Teaser for Her Latest Single, 'Calling'

ASTON OTONITY – Immediately capturing attention, Minzy showcases a rich, layered vocal performance on the lead single “Calling.” Along with snippets of the Korean and English versions of “Calling,” the lead single is perfectly complemented by “We Almost Were”—a slow, heartfelt B-side track.
Minzy of 2NE1 has now released a medley teaser for her latest single, “Calling.” Minzy herself participated in the songwriting and composition process for both versions of “Calling,” as well as “We Almost Were.”
Minzy’s single, titled “Calling,” will be released on September 28, so stay tuned for more teasers. As part of her thorough preparations leading up to the release, Gong Minji has unveiled a new identity through her official Instagram account, @_minzy_mz. This series of updates covers a wide range of topics.
The lead single to be released is titled “Calling.” Minzy has revealed the official tracklist and released a series of concept photos that have captivated fans.
Unlike her previous musical style, this new work will feature an emotional and soulful R&B genre.
Minzy is in full control of this project, being directly involved in the entire creative process—from producing the song and writing the lyrics to composing the music. The song is described as deeply personal and reflects her current identity as an artist.
Unlike her previous projects, where Minzy simply wrote lyrics over pre-recorded tracks, this time she was actively involved in building the foundation of the song from the very beginning alongside the production team.

Minzy teamed up with international musician Kloe Joseph and producer Taylor Hill to craft the composition and lyrics.
On the B-side track titled “We Almost Were,” Minzy collaborated with Jinjoo Lee, a talented South Korean guitarist known as a member of the American pop-rock band DNCE.
Widely known as a legendary K-Pop “dancing machine,” Minzy deliberately sought to break through stereotypes with this soulful R&B genre and highlight her authentic side as a vocalist through live performances.
This song was born from a deeply sincere and personal emotional space. Minzy uses it as a medium to reveal who “Gong Minji” truly is today—a mature, intimate, and honest musician—free from the shadow of her past image.
The lyrics depict her hiatus as a period of reflection, and the song “Calling” symbolizes her soul’s call to shine once again in the music world with her new, complete identity.
